Dreaming of Being your own Boss?

July 29, 2014 in General

I’m writing another blog for you tonight because I missed posting for you last week.  I hope this redeems me.  So lets talk now about being your own boss.

Being your own boss isn’t easy, but being someone Else’s boss is sometimes agonizing because they are fully dependent on their boss to feed their family.  We actually have to plan and decide on what we want our responsibility to be before taking on the first employee.

How Does Being an Adult Work?

August 8, 2013 in General

CrossFit is constantly humbling, especially now that I’m trying to get back into shape after the broken leg “hiatus.” But no matter how slow or winded I am, my fellow gym-goers are still there to cheer me on. They don’t judge me for having a bad day or being the last to finish. It hurts my pride, sure, but I never feel like people think I’m a loser or weak or lame.

Don’t Work Without Being Covered!

July 17, 2013 in General

We all understand that the economy isn’t doing as well as we all hope, but it doesn’t give employers the right to cut back on workers’ rights.

Employers MUST protect their workers with workers’ compensation insurance. If they aren’t, they are in violation of the law.worker4

Last week, two construction companies were shut down because they couldn’t prove they had workers’ compensation programs in place.

Many companies are trying to play on the fact that people are so desperate to find employment, that these workers will settle for less than what should be provided to them…and this includes workers’ compensation insurance.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT BEING AN ESTATE TRUSTEE

July 7, 2013 in General

I am often asked questions about what one should consider when they are thinking about appointing an estate trustee but funny enough, I do not get asked as many questions from the people who have been asked to be one. Deciding to accept the role of an executor is not one that should be taken on without careful consideration. So I decided to seek some advice from an expert and today I am thrilled to welcome one of Toronto’s top estate planning lawyers to the WITH THE [STROKE] OF A PEN® Blog.

I am 18 and being kicked out; how do I learn to fend for myself in practical ways (food, apartment, job, etc)?

April 8, 2013 in Insurance jobs and educations

I have been very sheltered as far as “real life experiences” go- don’t know how to make a budget, get an apartment, insurance, pay bills, etc and I don’t even have a driver’s license or car. on top of this I have horrible communication skills lol. So what would be the best way to figure all this stuff out and be self reliant/independent
