Whether you’re traveling domestically or internationally, the good news is that the flu shot administered in the U.S. will protect you from most major strains of the virus around the world.

How to avoid becoming a statistic?

January 18, 2013 in Insurance jobs and educations

I am 17 years old. I’ve been married for six months and have 17 month old twins. I can’t say I had plans and endless potential before getting pregnant, but being parent and a wife was not how I imagined my future.

Things were looking very hopeless shortly after I gave birth to my son and daughter, but through careful planning and resilience, life is looking better for the four of us. We are now able to live independently, my husband has a job which provides health insurance, I am working part time thanks to the support of my sister in law who looks after my children on the afternoon, and our family life is happy and peaceful. Earlier this year I got my GED.

Social Media: Avoid the Risks of Misspeaking

November 28, 2012 in General

Media training is not usually part of the curriculum, however there are tricks to getting your point across and staying on track without someone twisting what you have to say. Plan for the interview and prepare what you will say related to the specific topic. Never do an interview without preparation! Remember, you don’t have to do an interview; it’s your option. If it is a topic you are not comfortable with don’t risk it. Develop your key message, and if lead astray bring the conversation back to this point. Short and simple sentences are best to keep you on topic. Don’t let the reporter put words in your mouth, but make sure your idea is clearly expressed. Reporters often say, “So what you’re saying is…, ” if it’s not 100% what you mean correct them. An interviewer will often throw in awkward pauses to make you nervous and speak more, but anticipate the pause and stop when you have no more to say. Nothing you say to a reporter is off the record. Don’t say it if you don’t want it repeated.

Hospitality Industry Employment Risks: Hotels And Restaurant Groups Begin Limiting Employee Hours To Below 30 Hours Per Week To Avoid Health-Care Law Requirements

November 6, 2012 in General

Several restaurants, hotels and retailers have started or are preparing to limit schedules of hourly workers to below 30 hours a week. That is the threshold at which large employers in 2014 would have to offer workers a minimum level of insurance or pay a penalty starting at $2,000 for each worker.

The shift is one of the first significant steps by employers to avoid requirements under the health-care law, and whether the trend continues hinges on Tuesday’s election results. Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney has pledged to overturn the Affordable Care Act, although he would face obstacles doing so.

What can i do to avoid custody battle?

October 28, 2012 in Insurance jobs and educations

6 years ago my wife commited adultery and we divorced yet i cited irreconcilable differences now she’s remarried (twice) and i’ve remarried. In our original agreement we settled for joint custody with no child support now she’s wanting me to surrender custody. I’m currently out of work and cannot pay child support can i give my parents temporary custody until a time when i find work and pay the child support? She’s not asking for a lot but i just recently lost my job so even not a lot is hard to come up with. If i had the income i once had i’d happily pay more than what she’s asking for. This whole thing of asking for support when we agreed i would be paying for their needs when they are with me (they were on my insurance and are listed as my beneficieries on my life insurance and 401K) is a suprise to me and is there anyway i can make sure the money is being spent on my children? I don’t want to have a judge ask my kids to choose a parent.

Is it legal for my boss is telling me to work at her other work place to avoid paying unemployment benefits?

October 1, 2012 in Insurance jobs and educations

So my boss closed down her work place last weekend, and then I applied for unemployment insurance… Shortly afterwards, she calls me and tells me she received a letter in the mail about it and now she wants me to work for her again but at a much farther location.

The location is 30 miles out from my address. And it obviously doesn’t make sense for me to drive up there to work because it’s so far and that its only minimum wage. I feel that she’s doing his because she is so cheap and she knows I’m not willig to make that kind of drive…. She just doesn’t want to pay up for insurance.

Strategy #5 of How to Avoid Price Shock from Medical Bills

August 9, 2012 in General

This entry is a continuation of our blog series on how to save medical costs.

Strategy 5

Use the drug manufacturer as a resource for payment assistance. If you are purchasing a brand name medication, the drug manufacturer should be your first bet on getting financial assistance. Most drug companies have a dedicated “hub” that handles that particular brand of medication and will be able to help you with anything from providing you with a coupon card, to copay/payment assistance, to providing free drugs for limited amount of time.
