Someday and hopefully someday soon, America will wake up, and stop the insurance companies from dictating when we die. Seriously when is it enough!

The health care industry, yes industry, has been broken for so long. I am a retired RN and I have a chronic health condition. So many people get cut off when they start to cost the insurance companies money. If car insurances acted like health insurances they would be in so much trouble. I don’t understand how these companies can get away with this. I also don’t understand how people are against health insurance reform. It seams like the large corps. are getting away with murder these days.

I don’t get it, why are Americans such good little sheep, if healthcare became like that in any other developed nation there’d be a revolution.

How many Americans would still be alive if the health insurance industry didn’t make TENS of BILLIONS in profits per year? Why is making money more important to conservatives than saving American lives?
scottandrewhutchins said on February 6, 2012
Further evidence that capitalism is inherently evil.

Conservatives: Corporations making life or death decisions based on money (something that happens EVERY day) for PROFIT = Free Market American Capitalism (Good), but The Government making life or death decisions (something that was NEVER in the Health Care Bill, anyway) = Marxist Death Panels (Bad)

@KarateKidX Indeed, nothing to do with the health-care bill, but very much with consumer protection in general. You’re saying the guy could have threaten to sue them, yet from this story it seems that he was just lucky that he got press attention and the insurance company had to fear a PR disaster.
All I’m saying, is that I did the exact same thing once, and I never had to fear for losing service or getting sued or having to sue myself.
KarateKidX said on February 6, 2012
@P1ranh4
This story has nothing to do with the health-care bill. Even without the health-care bill, the guy can as little as threaten to bring the insurance company to court, and they will cover him because they know that they can’t win
KarateKidX said on February 6, 2012
If they hire a lawyer, the insurance company will probably end up paying for the transplant and then some

take 50% of the executive salaries and bonus’ of all the insurance companies and I’ll be willing to bet it would pay for basic health care for every American.
Don’t tell me the money to give every man, woman and child health care isn’t there.

@OgreMECH Poor guy
That’s what I’ve got. 15cm mediastynal stage 1 lymphoma. So far, though, my only out of pocket expenses have been gas and food for the hospital trips.

OgreMECH said on February 7, 2012
@Etimos I had non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and I’m an American. I got a $215,000 bill and went bankrupt. My insurance paid $4,000 of it. Fortunately, I got treated and survived so I’m not too bitter about it.

@Cypha1 capitalism isn’t about humanity, its about greed.

@Etimos Luckily most “1st world” countries have proper health care systems. The U.S. is the – insane – exception.

@langox510x “Car companies wouldn’t get away with this kind of stuff when selling cars.” “This system *IS* broken.” Really his statement should have been “has been broken”
And No I don’t need to site another case to make the point which was blindingly obvious, our system has ignored corp negligence before.

@corbono1231 Again, you are siting a recall in 1978. Can you please site something a bit more up to date?
