How is being forced to by health-care insurance different than being forced to carry auto insurance?

I can think of ta few ways:
1. We don’t HAVE to drive
2. If we do drive, most states require insurance, but also may take a bond or proof that you have money to compensate
3. Auto insurance is mandated by the state, not the federal government

I can sit in my house and never leave but according to Obamacare I will have to pay a private company for the right to sit there without breaking the law..

You answered your own question. Yet some refuse to purchase either one.

The government can do what they like with their cars, but when they start forcing you to LIVE a certain way, where is the freedom? Obamacare is forcing a way of life on people.

auto insurance affects other peoples health not just yours so its a public safety thing but honestly why should healthcare be free i think HOSPITALS not health care should be free other wise its just too much burocracy

You don’t HAVE to own a car. You liberals who don’t have jobs can take the publicly subsidized buses or walk.

You have a choice to drive or not.
The hc bill requires you buy insurance, just for being alive in our country.

Auto insurance protects someone else. You should not be forced to protect oneself. At least by a government that’s doomed to failure.

Being forced to buy health insurance is good!!!! All the people on yahoo cannot seriously tell me that everything would be different. They prob. already have health insurance so nothing would change!

You MUST buy auto insurance to protect the OTHER guy! You do NOT have to buy insurance to protect yourself.
Collision insurance for your auto is mandatory only when someone is loaning you money to buy the car.
After that, when you own it, you are NOT required to purchase collision, you MUST provide liability insurance.
You could destroy someone else’s life, and not have the money to pay them.
Health insurance is for you or your family, and should be entirely up to you.

Let’s cut to the heart of the health care debate, shall we? You are paying for the un-insured’s health care now. Why exactly do you object to THEM paying part of their own health care instead of you?
I really don’t get the Conservative argument here … it’s flat out stupid to say, “I’d rather pay for someone’s health care through higher taxes and higher costs when I go to the doctor instead of them paying for it through insurance premiums.”
Downright silly of you to object to the individual mandate when it comes down to it.

Our highway and secondary roads are a public asset that you use at the permission of those who pay for them. Those laws are about participating in that system and is State run. This is completely different than the feds forcing you to live your life with their permission. Your health is a totally personal and local issue, it is not and never will be the federal governments business, this was a total democrat grab of power against individuals and States rights.
The Feds can get lawyers under control, get insurance companies to compete by opening restrictions the Feds imposed in the first place, and tax incentives, health savings accounts, allow people to buy drugs anywhere, and many other ideas. They should have started there.
